USC Polymorphic Superbots

University of Southern California reported on their progress with
polymorphic robots at 2007 Space Technology and
Applications International
Forum. Summaries of the report can be found in an Astrobiology
Magazine story and a Yahoo!
News article. The Superbots are
autonomous polymorphic robot modules that can assemble themselves into
various shapes and reconfigure into other shapes as required. Think of
it as autonomous LEGOs. The researchers prepared a large number of
videos of the Superbot modules configuring themselves into various
shapes such as humanoid robots, four legged walkers, snake robots, and
other shapes. Additional videos can be seen in the Astrobiology
story (some of the videos are in a proprietary MS format and may not
be viewable in all browsers).
