Talking Robots: Metin Sitti

Markus Waibel writes,
"The topic of the latest Talking
Robots podcast episode is Nano-Robotics, and we interview the head
of the Nano-Robotics lab at Carnegie Mellon University, Metin Sitti. He is well known
for his work on artificial gecko
hairs and their applications in robotics, and for his work on the Micromechanical
Flying Insect Project (also see an earlier post). He has also
just made headlines last month for using
bacteria to construct a tiny robot and controlling its motion using
chemicals (see also here).
In this episode Metin Sitti talks about artificial gecko hairs and how
they are used in his wall-climbing robots,
about the advantages of down-scaling robots, about the state of the art
in micro-robotics, and about the potential of hybrid bio-mechanical
robots."
